Iceland? Who knew?!
So, what made me think of a trip to Iceland? It all began with a dream I had about 6 months ago! I really do not recall much of the dream, but I do recall waking up and thinking, "That was Iceland and not Greenland, right?" (Though I knew very little about Iceland, I did know that Iceland was green and Greenland was ice and who wants God to send them to a continent of ice?)
Thrilled to know that He was asking me to go to Iceland, I started looking into this country of which I knew very little.
What a BEAUTIFUL Country!! So much diversity geologically--beaches, volcanoes, glaciers, meadows, continental plates--all in a country you can travel around on the 830 mile 'ring road' in under 3 days (though we will take 14 days!!!).
I said "we"...I felt that Stephany Kern was to take this God-adventure with me. I spoke with her about this, she prayed and God confirmed that her first trip outside of the United States will be to Iceland. WooHoo!!
So, Lord, when do You want us to go? More prayer (separately) and we both got 'the first 2 weeks in May'. To me, all this confirmation is exciting and speaks of a wonderful time as well as a great adventure.
The Shofar
A Shofar? You want me to bring a Shofar? For those of you who do not know what a Shofar is, it is a Jewish ritual musical instrument made from the horn of a ram or other animal, such as a kudu. When I thought that the Lord was suggesting that I bring a Shofar to Iceland, I didn't take it too seriously. Why? Well, I had read a book in the last year where an intercessor was led of the Lord to perform some prophetic acts which involved the blowing of a Shofar. So, I reasoned to myself that I was being influenced by what I had read. I went online and did a light search for a small Shofar (rams horn) but didn't get really excited about a purchase.
Then I had a dream of a Shofar. This I took seriously! The Shofar had silver inlay around the 'horn' end. In my initial search, I had not seen a Shofar like that. I had seen some with silver inlay at the 'blowing' end but most of these were larger Shofarot (plural of shofar). With renewed excitement, I searched and searched and searched--to the extent that I almost gave up! But then I found it! A beautifully crafted Shofar from a shop in Tel Aviv, Israel. Boy, was I excited! I gladly purchased this beautiful instrument and have practiced blowing it. This Shofar has rich tonal qualities and I am excited to see what happens as the Lord directs its use.
The Shofar has two lions (Lion of the Tribe of Judah) facing each other with a crown and the word, "Jerusalem" centered between them.
I want to hear all about it!
ReplyDeleteSheryl, I was thinking about the dream and I do remember that there was a lot of SNOW!!! This is why I woke up asking, "Lord, that was Iceland, not Greenland...right?" Therefore I should not be so surprised that it has snowed every day here!
